Ensure the best results and minimise risks by following these simple aftercare instructions.
After your dermal filler treatment at Luminor Aesthetic Clinic, it’s important to follow a few aftercare steps to enhance your results, reduce swelling and bruising, and ensure a smooth recovery. These guidelines will help your skin heal properly and give you the most natural, beautiful results.
1. Avoid Touching or Massaging the Treated Area
For the first 6 hours, avoid touching or massaging the treated area. This ensures the fillers stay in place and don’t move to unintended areas.
After 6 hours, you may gently touch your skin, but do so with clean hands and avoid pressing hard on the treated areas.
2. No Strenuous Exercise
Avoid vigorous exercise or heavy physical activity for 24–48 hours following the treatment. Exercise can increase blood flow and potentially lead to increased swelling or bruising.
3. Avoid Heat and Sun Exposure
For the first 48 hours, avoid exposure to direct sunlight, hot tubs, saunas, or steam rooms. Excessive heat can increase the risk of swelling and interfere with the healing process.
Wear sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to protect the treated area from UV damage once you can safely be outdoors.
4. No Alcohol for 24 Hours
Refrain from consuming alcohol for 24 hours after your filler treatment. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
5. No Dental Work for 2 Weeks
Avoid any dental procedures, including teeth cleaning, for 2 weeks after dermal filler injections, particularly if you had fillers injected into areas around the mouth. This helps avoid unnecessary pressure or movement of the filler.
6. Avoid Anti-inflammatory Medications
For 24–48 hours, avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory medications, as they can increase the risk of bruising. If you need to manage discomfort, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a safe alternative.
7. Sleep Position
For the first 1–2 nights, try to sleep on your back with your head elevated to reduce swelling. Avoid sleeping on the treated areas, especially if you’ve had filler injected into the cheeks or jawline.
8. Gentle Skincare
Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer after your treatment to avoid irritation. Avoid using harsh exfoliators or abrasive skin care products on the treated area for at least 5–7 days.
9. Swelling and Bruising
Swelling is normal after dermal filler injections and usually resolves within 2–3 days, although it can last up to 7 days for some people.
Bruising may also occur, but it typically fades within 1–2 weeks. Applying a cold compress in the first few hours after treatment can help reduce swelling.
10. Results Take Time
Dermal fillers work immediately, but the final result may take up to 2 weeks to fully settle and show. If you have any concerns or questions about the final appearance of your treatment, feel free to contact us for a follow-up.
11. Avoid Smoking
If possible, avoid smoking for at least 24–48 hours after your treatment, as it can interfere with healing and increase the risk of complications.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure a smoother recovery, minimize any potential side effects, and enjoy your refreshed, youthful look. If you have any concerns or questions after your treatment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Luminor Aesthetic Clinic.
